Many different toll vendors use the venerable Pelco 8100 series camera enclosure.
In order to get the maximum on-retro image for license plate verification, it is important to have the light source as close to the camera axis as possible.
The Odos was designed to do just that. It mounts inside the Pelco housing with just a few screws. It can be powered by a wide array of sources - from 11-24 VAC or 12-28 VDC - including from the camera power supply. The triggering is simple - just attach a wire from the camera sync output to the trigger input, and configure the Odos controller (RS232, RS422, RS485) for the desired delay and duration of the light output pulse.
The Odos can be ordered with narrow, medium, and wide optics to illuminate different fields of view and can also be outfitted with high power IR LEDs for front capture applications.
The Odos - making systems integration easy for Vehicle Enforcement Systems (VES) and Open Road Tolling (ORT) applications for illuminating vehicles at high speeds at up to 70 feet.
What does it do?
Basic Features
- An easy way to integrate an on-axis illuminator into the Pelco 8100 series camera housing
- Light pulse duration and delay are variable from 100 microseconds to 2 seconds (or even longer)
- The light output can be automatically varied in response to the ambient light conditions according to a user defined look-up table
- Odos controller can operate at 2X the camera frame rate to get rid of flicker than can annoy drivers
